Architectural Intern

SLA Architects is a high-tech design firm located in Wichita Falls, Texas providing a creative working environment with great benefits and competitive salaries. Our work primarily revolves around Federal and State government clients which includes US Army Corps of Engineers, Air Force Civil Engineering Command, General Services Commission, Texas Dept of Transportation, Texas Health and Human Services, and more.  We also serve Municipal government, ISD, and local commercial clients. Our work is primarily located in the southwestern region (Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana and Arkansas), but we’ve expanded in the recent years to include projects in Fort Carson, CO; Fort Meade, MD; Fort Drum, NY: West Point Military Academy, NY; and Fort Bragg, NC.

SLA Architects is seeking architectural interns. We define this as an unlicensed graduate of architecture school with one to two years of experience through job shadowing or internships.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work under the direction of senior staff to document project requirements.
  • Understand and document compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Progress steadily through document production and meet senior staff expectations.
  • Prepare design deliverables as directed by senior staff.
  • Coordinate architectural design and/or models with consulting engineering design.
  • Understand and prepare architectural detailing requisite to project document production.
  • Participate in technical discussions with contractor, consultants, project teams, and clients.
  • Respond to senior staff direction, comments, and quality control reviews.
  • Periodically observe project construction and reporting on construction document compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Revit and AutoCAD skills required.
  • Proficient Building Codes, and Microsoft Office Suite skills required.
  • 1-2 years architectural experience preferred.
  • Adobe PhotoShop and SketchUp skills preferred.

CADD Tech

SLA Architects is seeking CADD Techs, preferably with a background in construction practices and with an intermediate knowledge of Revit. Experience in construction document production for government/institutional building types is a plus. Our firm is established and invested in the communities we work with, enjoying long-standing client relationships and repeat work. We are looking for professionals who can be challenged and are eager to be part of this exciting team.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work under the direction of senior staff to document project requirements.
  • Understand and document compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Progress steadily through document production and meet senior staff expectations.
  • Prepare design deliverables as directed by senior staff.
  • Understand and prepare architectural detailing requisite to project document production.
  • Respond to senior staff direction, comments, and quality control reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Revit and AutoCAD skills required.
  • Microsoft Office Suite skills required.
  • Good understanding of current AEC CADD Standards and AEC Graphics Standards is preferred.
  • Proficient Building Codes skills are preferred.
  • 2-5 or more years CADD experience preferred.
  • Good understanding of Group Models, Linked-In Models, Scheduling, Revit Families is a plus.
  • Good understanding of X-Referencing according to the AEC CADD Standards is a plus.
